THE RULING CLASS ANNOUNCE SECOND SINGLE AND REIGN OVER OXFORD STREET IN MIDSUMMER GIG
fierce panda mgmt presents: THE STORY: as you might know by now the esteemed fierce panda recording company is currently celebrating 15 years of fluffy independent fun. What you might not know is that eighteen months ago the fierce panda mgmt arm was set up to run alongside the label. And on July 21st 2009 that hairy arm is hosting a murderous midsummer party with two of those management bands, The Ruling Class and The Molotovs, playing at the iconic 100 Club in London Town. Throw in special guests The Tamborines, sprinkle on an array of the coolest DJs west of Shoreditch, add a credit crunch-friendly £6.50 advance ticket price and voila, you have yourself one well flaming groovy night out. ** THE RULING CLASS (onstage 10.00pm) are five sonic alchemists based in North London. On July 20th they release a brand new double AA-sided single, Sleeping Beauty / Marian Shrine on Loog Records. And on July 21st they headline this 100 Club show, their biggest to date. The plot is blindingly simple: band plays ear-warming blend of old school indiepop and gentle sonic chaos which sounds perhaps a little bit like the Stone Roses if theyd signed to Creation. Band releases sell-out debut single Flowers, tours with The Charlatans, earns admiring glances from The Horrors, Glasvegas and SCUM, works out plot for world domination in 2009, sacks singer, gets new singer, sacks new singer, tours with The Twang with songwriter / guitarist singing, finally gets original singer back, revisits plot for world domination. Same old same old, basically. www.myspace.com/therulingclassuk ** THE TAMBORINES (onstage 9.00pm) revolve around two fragrantly-named core members Lulu and Henrique who peddle a classic fuzzed-up psyched-out pop noise which runs the stoner gamut from the Warlocks to the Warhols. The revered Sonic Cathedral label has already released their Sally OGannon single and featured them on the current Cathedral Classics Volume One compilation and more wigged-out vinyl is heading our way soon. www.myspace.com/thetamborines ** THE MOLOTOVS (onstage 8.00pm) are five young men based in the Fortress in North London who also form part of the fierce panda mgmt stable. They create an intelligent, uplifting pop noise which makes people think of Vampire Weekend and The Walkmen and Arcade Fire and other likeminded uplifting, intelligent alternopop bands. They release their second single, Citys Guest on fierce panda on August 10th and a mini-album on August 17th. www.myspace.com/themolotovs
