a cultural binfire of a fierce panda one sheet The Act: WYNONA BLEACH The Release: 'I DESERVE THAT' The Format: DIGISINGLE The Release Date: OCTOBER 7TH 2024 The Digital Link: orcd.co/i_deserve_that The Truth: Wynona Bleach are a fierce and feisty four-piece from Belfast who now consist of Melyssa Shannon (vocals), Jonny Woods (guitar / vocals), James Foy (drums) and Carl Gilmore (bass). Together they are boisterous blenders of alternative rock, shoegaze and power pop, as evidenced by new single 'I Deserve That', in which furious riffs race Melyssa's bitter-wouldn't-melt vocals to the end of the world. With handsome timing, 'I Deserve That' is a cautionary tale about the cultural binfire that exists around the chronically online and how important it is to touch base with the ‘real’ and natural world. Guitarist Jonny Woods says: “It’s a track about brain rot and how social media and TV can be poisonous and make you feel worthless and bad about yourself, and how you should go outside and touch grass every once in a while.” Amen to that. 2022 saw the release of Wynona Bleach's debut album, 'Moonsoake', a vibrant and passionately charged collection that delves into themes of heartache and emotional turmoil. They were nominated for the Northern Ireland Music Prize for both Album and Live Act, and their winter tour ended with two shows at the Other Voices Festival. 2023 witnessed the band playing live sessions on BBC Sounds, performing at SXSW and New Colossus Festivals in the USA, and supporting fellow Belfast band and absolute Indie rock legends Ash on their Irish tour. Ultimately, whatever the year, Wynona Bleach deliver the glorious sounds of indie alternative rock, echoing vibes of The Smashing Pumpkins, Curve, The Joy Formidable, and Wolf Alice, but with their own unique twist. If 'I Deserve That' is any clue to the music on the forthcoming album, then get ready for a blend of loud, raucous energy, unmistakably bold hooks, lush melodies and all the sass and ‘bubblegrunge’ beauty you can possibly handle. On top of that this band totally rock the world off its axis at their gigs. Go on! Do yourself a favour and go see them at a venue near you…
