The Truth: Wynona Bleach are from Belfast and consist of Melyssa Shannon (vocals), Jonny Woods (guitar / vocals), James Foy (drums) and Carl Gilmore (bass). The fierce and feisty quartet, known for their lush soundscapes, infectious energy and sing-along-a-lyrics release their newest sophistopop-bubblegrunge gem, ‘Tangerine’, on 21st January 2025.

Blending alternative rock, shoegaze and powerpop, ‘Tangerine’ marks the third single from the band’s sophomore record, due in 2025. A downtempo, crushing and popping ballad about wants and desires, it explores the delicate state one finds themselves in when they find themselves secretly crushing on someone they know they’ll never have. The track was written and recorded in the band’s own local pub ballroom-come studio space, produced by guitarist Jonny Woods and mixed and co-produced by their long-standing collaborators, Grammy-nominated Andy Bradfield and Avril Mackintosh (The XX, Rufus Wainwright, Bryan Adams), who worked on the band’s latest singles and also on their debut album ‘Moonsoake’.

Originally formed in 2018, the band have a slew of achievements from a 12-date headline tour of Russia to supporting the likes of Feeder and October Drift and and being handpicked by the legendary Alice In Chains and, more recently, Ash to support them on the Irish leg of their respective tours. They were nominated for the Northern Ireland Music Prize for both Album and Live Act in 2022 with debut album ‘Moonsoake’ (produced with Bill Ryder-Jones), while 2023 saw Wynona Bleach playing live sessions with BBC Sounds and performing at SXSW and New Colossus Festival In NYC.

‘Tangerine’ is released not long before Wynona Bleach return to Austin in March to perform at SXSW for the second time in their short-but-sweet careers. They play a special fundraiser here:
