After months of tense negotiations we can proudly announce that this very month we signed certain legal documents which entitle us, the fierce pandas, to the rights (and indeed the wrongs) of the brand stonking new album by everyones favourite old school post-Postcard poppets HATCHAM SOCIAL. Already the stars of various events in 2009, such as the Push clubs closing down party, the Artrocker Islington Academy blowout and our very own Pandamonium event, the Hatcham boys are marching into the new year with a swagger and a purpose which validates the past two years of cultivating the Hatcham brand on the underground. Hatcham Socials first release on fierce panda will be a 7¬ù single called Murder In The Dark, and that that single will see the blight of day on March 9th. And before weve even had a chance to put the kettle on Hatcham Socials debut album, entitled You Dig The Tunnel Ill Hide The Soil will be released on March 16th. Hatcham fanatics will be tickled to know that the be-cardiganned ones macabre indie tunefulness is well represented on the album, with live favourites So So Happy Making and Penelope (Under My Hat) making the cut alongside some cracking soon-to-be-anthems, notably a terrific newie called Sidewalk. Lots and lots more information to come on this one in the weeks ahead, and as well as supporting The Walkmen at the panda Scala party on Friday February 20th Hatcham Social will be touring in February ‚ check the panda gig guide or www.myspace.com/hatchamsocial for fulsome details - and heading off to SXSW in March.
