That's right. Club Panda returneth like a gig monster from the live circuit swamp and the details for the next show look like this..Club Panda @ Club Fandango presents: CHEEKY CHEEKY & THE NOSEBLEEDS + THE KABEEDIES + ARTHUR + THE BROADCASTS at London Great Portland Street 229 on Thursday July 24th 2008. It's sick squid to get in or five squid with a modernfangled downloadable flyer from www.clubfandango.co.uk June 2008 saw Club Panda climb out of the ashes dust itself off splash on a sploosh of Eau Savage and return to the London live scene after years of heartily enforced retirement. Narration New Adventures The Ruling Class and Silhouette were our lucky fellow travellers on the comeback trail as we got used to the new ways of the modern age - what do you mean you haven't got a CD player on the sound desk?? - and generally we had enough fun to give it another go. So here is Club Panda 2 in all it's cheery childlike indie schmindie glory with four combos carefully handpicked by the crack fierce panda A&R roustabouts and it's all going to sound rather like this... CHEEKY CHEEKY & THE NOSEBLEEDS formed more out of fear than anything healthy. Driven wild by the tedium of dull Sundays spent literally lying near unconscious on the floors of their respective homes in Suffolk the five members contacted each other and agreed to meet in the treehouse at eight o' clock. This they did and later that night prone around the camp-fire and after a few beers began to french one another furiously. This done they set about the simple process of forming a band and writing some filthily good pop songs. That night they slept content under the stars waiting for the pale winter sun to mark the dawn and with it the new reign of Cheeky Cheeky and the Nosebleeds. www.myspace.com/cheekynosebleeds ONSTAGE: 10:15 THE KABEEDIES make teenage boy-boy-girl-boy wonky pop and are based in Norwich. 'Anyone who has dropped a packed of Mentos into a bottle of coke and watched the resulting fizz will know what we mean when we say city indie-poppers The Kabeedies are like a packet of mints... Interesting enough on their own and most pleasant to have about but things start to get exciting when they're together and it gets really exciting when they're dropped in with an audience' - Urbane Magazine www.myspace.com/thekabeedies ONSTAGE: 9:30 ARTHUR are five kids from Hampshire. Two guitars one piano one drum one bass. Five not so great haircuts but five wardrobes full of original clothing. Two pairs of coloured tights one set of fairy lights and one shiny mask. Hampshire based quintet Arthur deal in songs so joyously youthful and bittersweet that you wish they'd been the soundtrack to your first teenage crush - The Boileroom. www.myspace.com/arthurtheband ONSTAGE: 8:45 THE BROADCASTS have arrived with an infectious blend of indie/rock/alt and they are here to make everyone and everything stop and listen. With comparisons to The Jam and The Cure they are writing songs that are timeless and dare they say it guaranteed hits. Formed seemingly hours ago The Broadcasts! have been playing together in different guises since the age of 16 now in their early 20s they are ready for the big time. www.myspace.com/thebroadcasts ONSTAGE: 8:00 And so say all of them. www.clubfandango.co.uk |
