A hazily drunken fierce panda one sheet The Band: ASH The Release: 'RACE THE NIGHT' The Release Date: SEPTEMBER 15TH 2023 The Formats: VARIOUS COLOURED VINYLS / CD / CASSETTE / DIGITAL The Link: linkt.ree/ashracethenightalbum
The Tracklisting: The Truth: older readers may recall that Northern Irish noiseniks Ash first appeared on fierce panda on the ‘Crazed And Confused’ six-track compilation EP in September 1994, a teenage rampage which came hot on the heels of their ‘Jack Names The Planets’ debut single. Against several odds, 29 years on the indie dream team is reunited on ‘Race The Night’, the trio’s eighth album which is available to pre-order on a multitude of splendidly special formats right now and available to buy in sensible shops from September 15th. You may have heard the four singles launched since the start of the summer (cheers): the title track, ‘Like A God’, ‘Usual Places’ and ‘Crashed Out Wasted’ have seen Ash do speedy pop, crunchy rock, wistful nostalgia and hazy drunken regret, which pretty much sums up the essence of the entire heart-racing ‘Race The Night’ experience. The band will also share one more video from the album for the epic sepia-tinged love story 'Oslo', featuring the exquisite vocals of Dutch singer Demira. She's filmed alone in Amsterdam while Tim is tripping around Highbury. Like the rest of 'Race The Night' it's passionate and fruity and stuffed full with melody, mayhem and cheeky key changes. But don’t take our words for it, take these: “The guitar riffs are memorable and the chorus lines swoon in a classic manner. Their music seems resistant to age and maturity.” - 8/10 Classic Rock “Ash may have grown up, but they retain a joyous lust for life and, post-pandemic, are clearly delighted to still be in the game.” - 4/5 Loudersound.com “Ash celebrate their 30th anniversary with the kind of grandstanding solos and condensed punky dramas that made ‘1977’ such an essential Britrock debut.” - 4/5 Classic Pop Winning consistent support across BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 2 and Absolute Radio - Tim Wheeler appeared on Midnight Meets with Colin Murray on 5 Live and then went head-to-head with Rick Astley on Roundtable - these new songs bring with them what Tim describes as "the sound of the band reveling in the sheer joy of being a band after being separated by time and distance through the insanity of the early 2020s." Ash will be playing a week-long run of instore / outstore live shows as 'Race The Night' is released. The shows will combine Q&As, acoustic sets and signings, as well as a special show at Pryzm Kingston, at which the band will play tracks from the new album fully electric for the first time.
