a razzle dazzle of a fierce panda one sheet The Act: ENJOYABLE LISTENS The Track: 'DEAD FROZEN' The Format: DIGI-MUNGOUS EPIC POP GLORY The Link: Listen On All Platforms Here The Release Date: THURSDAY NOVEMBER 10TH 2022
The Gig: 23rd Nov at The Lexington, London (with LILO + ALBERT GOLD) The Truth: Sometimes he is a man with a phone. At other times he is a man with a bassist called Jimbo and a laptop. More recently he has been spotted flourishing a seven piece live band. Whatever the live set up, wherever the venue you will find Luke from ENJOYABLE LISTENS on the bar, on the bar stools, on the PA, surfing the gig furnishings just as his bold brand of fab.alt.pop surfs the nation's airwaves. He will be doing all these things and more when he headlines The Lexington in London Town on November 23rd to launch the release of his brrrrand new single, 'Dead Frozen' ( Listen On All Platforms Here ) . More dates below. Fresh from a standard four-gig stint at Left of the Dial in Rotterdam, Enjoyable Listens continues to razzle and dazzle at all points between Manningtree Winyl and a tour of the Home Counties with - yes - Home Counties. Already in 2022 he has scorched SXSW, blasted through Glasters, escaped The Great Escape unscathed, packed out Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes and The Shacklewell Arms, perspired with Desperate Journalist at their live album recording in Nottingham, and inspired hundreds more at dozens of gigs great and small. Did we mention he even supported the Antarctic Monkeys in Milton Keynes? Yeah, that was a replacement for the cancelled A Flock Of Seagulls show. Such is hyperactive live life with Enjoyable Listens, the chisel-cheeked showbiz showman hoovering up the references to Cave (Nick), Cocker (Jarvis) and, of course, Astley (Rick). 'Dead Frozen' is the first release since the 'The Enjoyable Listen' album bowled out earlier this year, all fruity melodies and morose expressionism, and it captures that Pulp Friction essence rare, all nourishingly epic layers and noirishly laidback hooks. But don't take our words for it, here are the thoughts of Luke Enjoyable Listens himself on his 'Dead Frozen' tune: "An epitaph that mulls over the long gone, rose tinted, bitterly blue January mornings of yesteryear. What does a tree mean? What truth does the sky embody? What exactly do Enjoyable Listens mean in the beguiling chorus of ‘Dead Frozen’, as it revolves around your mind like a carousel composed exclusively of sweet, sweet eidolons? This song is a 3 minute and 36 second, ambitiously romantic vignette that does its best to paint the memory of a time that never was.” Go find Enjoyable Listens surfing the hard and soft furnishings of these venues here: 27th Oct - Strongroom, London (Bark 10th Anniversary) 5th Nov - The Cavendish Arms, London 18th Nov - Esquires, Bedford 19th Nov - The Record Cafe, Bradford 22nd Nov - Heartbreakers, Southampton

"We have in front of us Bruce Forsyth singing with The Divine Comedy, a new Mr Showbiz, sat somewhere between The Rhythm Method and Elvis, cooler than Shaking Stevens, a one-man Showaddywaddy or a polite English version of John Spencer who owns too many Smiths recordings from the 1980s. Luke performed five shows that were scattered around small bars at Glastonbury and we hear each one was as wonderful as the one witnessed on Thursday evening that began in front of an audience of a couple of dozen and ended in front of a couple of hundred. Go and visit this man’s show as soon as you can. We may not be too sure where this will eventually go but where this is at the moment is fabulous." - Keith Goldhanger |
