a shamelessly anthemic fierce panda one sheet The Band: BAG OF CANS The Release: 'PUB MONEY' The Format: DIGITAL SINGLE The Release Date: WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 26TH 2022 The Digital Link:orcd.co/pub_money The Truth: Once contenders for the crown of "the least self-conscious band in Norwich", Bag Of Cans consist of George Baker (vocals / trumpet), George Bryce (guitar / vocals), Tom McGhie (guitar), Sam Watts (bass) and Joe Wilson (drums). The quintet are poised to spread the chaotic musical love far and beyond East Anglia with new single 'Pub Money'. 'Pub Money' is the band's shameless attempt to write "an anthem for the terraces", with football chant-style vocals alongside now-signature squealing guitars and a pounding rhythm section. At the song's core is the all-too-familiar inner grappling that occurs whenever the threshold of a drinking venue is crossed. "I don't want to worry, come on pub just take my money," muses lead singer George before the confession: "I'm a little short on money, maybe pub don't take my money." The last year has seen the band force their brand of surrealist indie punk on despairing members of the public at festivals and venues around the country. Highlights from a packed summer include an appearance at Reading Festival 2022 and BBC 6 Music plays courtesy of Steve Lamacq of their DIY 'Spin Cycle' release. A recent, and very public, signing to fierce panda records in the Murderers pub has ushered the band into their sports cars and ponytails era, while 'Pub Money' points the way towards a debut album, due spring 2023 or whenever they can be prised away from the bar.
