A beefily sensitive fierce panda one sheet The Act: SOLAR EYES The Tune: ‘ALCATRAZ’ The Format: DIGITAL SINGLE The Release Date: AUGUST 5TH 2022 The Digital Link: orcd.co/solareyes_alcatraz “Swooping and captivating soundscapes and haunting vocals that pull you in with twanging guitars, and haunting strings that pulls the big sky of the wild west into the mystery of the midlands.” – Louder Than War Following the success of their debut EP Dreaming of the Moon, Birmingham collective SOLAR EYES return with 'Alcatraz', a stomping call to arms, released on Fierce Panda on 5th August. It is the first track to be taken from their forthcoming EP of the same name, to be released on 28th October. The current 'Dreaming Of The Moon' EP combines rock’n’roll with sun-dappled cinematic themes and Tarantino-esque twangs across its five beefily sensitive tracks, and, with a canon full of music, the cosmic 3-piece will be delivering more of their festival-ready anthems that nod to the muscular swaggerings of BRMC and Messrs Morricone and Pizzorno, throughout the year. Singing guitarist Glenn Smyth leads the creative way, ably flanked by lead guitarist Tom Ford and drummer Seb Maynard-Francis, and together their SOLAR EYES sounds have so far picked up radio action from BBC 6Music’s Steve Lamacq along with the BBC’s Mickey Bradley and Billy Sloan, while the 'Dreaming Of The Moon' video is nudging 85,000 views. The 'Alcatraz' video has been created by Tom Wagstaff, who also recently directed their 'Nothing’s For Free' video. Their artwork and previous animated videos are by Gorillaz cohort Matt Watkins. Both collaborators create a suitably intense visual world to illustrate the ideas spinning around Glenn Smyth’s mind. It's quite the place to visit.
