The Tracklisting: MEMES had a problem. In summertime single ‘So What?’ they confessed to never listening to a song more than half way through, and yet they needed you, the listener of the world, to listen to their song right to the end of its 103 paint-shredding, pants-tearing, poet-punking seconds. Then on exhilaratingly gnarly follow-up ‘Oll Korrect’ the cranky Glasgow dynamic duo found themselves confronted by another giant conundrum, as they confessed: "The tempo's wrong. The drumming's wrong. The bass is wrong. The guitaring is wrong. The singing is wrong. The words are wrong. But put together, it's Oll Korrect." Now they are trying to fix things with the ‘MEMES’ EP, a five-track affair which hurtles by in elevenish hectic minutes and packs in the previous singles ‘J.O.B.S.’ (from late 2019) and springtime lockdown anthem ‘Cheer Up’. The fifth and previously unreleased track is the brilliant ‘The Perfect Storm’, which shows a more reflective side of the dynamic duo. Relatively speaking. Or, in their own words… “Track one, called ‘So What’, would have made Caligula blush (or at the very least, tap his toes). Track two showed that even when two wrongs entwined, pass you by, it can still end up ‘Oll Korrect’. By track three, ‘The Perfect Storm’ is brewing with a song that mentions cakes, algorithms, and the closing credits of movies. Track four has MEMES looking for a ‘J.O.B.S.’ and then they found a ‘J.O.B.S’. and heaven knows they were miserable then. So, they decided to perk up with a four-minute motorik extravaganza called ‘Cheer Up’.”
