A spirited soulpop fierce panda one sheet The Act: ALBERT GOLD The Track: ‘GHOST’ The Format: DIGISINGLE The Release Date: SEPTEMBER 27TH 2019 The Digital Link:orcd.co/ghost The Truth: ALBERT GOLD is a soulpop singer from Hackney, East London, who has been described as the missing link between Frank Ocean and Luther Vandross. Across a slew of supple singles and slinky EP releases over the past few years he has defiantly proven himself to have a voice like a great big velvet kiss. His new single ‘GHOST’ definitively continues the theme. Co-written in a box in Stratford with David Gledhill, the producer behind the www.facebook.com/soulsarehere project, ‘GHOST’ is a bittersweet anti-love song with a falsetto vocal, various vocoder tricks and a curious undercurrent of Peruvian panpipes.
‘GHOST’ is the first track from Albert’s forthcoming third EP, the final release in a trilogy of extended play ventures which started with the ‘Oxygen’ and ‘Second’ EPs. So far this year he has released the ‘London Calling’ single, featuring covers of cockney classics by Coldplay, The Clash and Blur. He also featured as vocalist on the jazz-flecked ‘Trouble’ single by Dutch producer Bakermat in the spring, a track which is now over two million streams. Go see the pooch-tastic video here: Albert Gold has had BBC 6music play for the ‘London Calling’ EP from Steve Lamacq, Radio 2 play from Craig Charles and consistent airplay support from Huw Stephens at Radio 1 and Gary Crowley at BBC Introducing London, who made Albert artist of the week. He has performed for Communion, Vice Tipping Point, BMI / The Fix, Sofar Sounds and Abbie McCarthy's Good Karma, and played recent shows supporting VC Pines at The Lexington and Skint & Demoralised at The Victoria, as well as his own headline show at Stoke Newington Waiting Room. Having been covered by Line Of Best Fit, Clash, Mystic Sons and London In Stereo, Albert recorded his second EP ‘Second’ at Red Bull Studios, has co-written with Sacha Skarbek (Adele, Miley Cyrus), David Gledhill (SOULS) and Jonas Blue, recorded at Kensaltown Studios and previously released some smooth soul sounds on London In Stereo records. Much like ‘GHOST’, in fact… |
