** IT’S LONDON CALLING FOR ALBERT GOLD! ** ** HACKNEY BOY COVERS THE CLASH, BLUR AND COLDPLAY ON CAPITAL EP! ** A fierce panda 25 production The Artist: ALBERT GOLD The Release: THE ‘LONDON CALLING’ EP The Format: DIGITAL THREE-TRACK EP The Release Date: FEBRUARY 8TH 2019
The Tracklisting: "There were blue skies in my city today..." Strong news, cockney flyboys and girls: Hackney-born and bred soul man Albert Gold, who has been stealthily moving through the London musical underground over the past few years with a string of excellent singles and EPs, has now momentarily turned his attention to other people's songs about his magical home town with the 'London Calling' covers EP. Those other people’s capital songs about the capital city are by The Clash, Blur and Coldplay: Albert and musical cohort Conor Quinlan have created stripped-back versions of (ex-University College London students) Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’, the video for which sees Chris Martin prowling the streets of the South Bank, plus Blur’s loving tribute to West London, ‘Under The Westway’, plus – of course – The Clash classic which gives the EP its name, ‘London Calling’. And after all this, won’t you give me a smile?
To celebrate the release Albert plays this lovingly-located local show here: The ‘London Calling’ EP project launched on October 30th 2018 as a www.songbook.social campaign where real life music-lovin’ investors were invited to help raise funds for the recordings, thereby entitling them to a share of ongoing royalties and synch-related revenues from the release. The Songbook target was reached in double quick time, and the three capital-themed tracks were promptly recorded over a two day period in early December in Love Electric Studios in Islington. Now the entire EP sees the blight of day on February 8th, barely four months after the project was first proffered to the musical masses. Albert Gold has lived in Hackney, East London, all of his life. Over the last few years he has released excellent singles with names like ‘Don’t Let Me Go’ and ‘Handcuffs’ and during the past 12 months he has produced two fine EPs for fierce panda, those EPs being called ‘Oxygen’ and ‘Second’. He has also played live at various fine London venues such as The Lexington, The Sebright Arms, The Victoria, The Waiting Room, The Islington and Birthdays for promoting tykes Vice, Club Fandango, Communion and oodles more. Londoninstereo indeed…
One day a couple of years ago Albert made it across the M25 border, up the A12 and along the A14 to make a video at Felixstowe in Suffolk. That video was for the track ‘Into The Wild’, and that video lives here:
