A half-crazed fierce panda one sheet The Act: JEKYLL The Track: ‘MANIA’ The Release: THE ‘JEKYLL’ EP The Format: DIGITAL EP The Release Date: OUT NOW The Digital Link: http://smarturl.it/jekyll_ep The Truth: JEKYLL are four alt.rock kids from the northwest of Englandshire. Having recently supported the likes of October Drift and Fontaines DC they still consist of Joel Foster (vocals / guitar), Lewis Armistead (bass), Liam Singleton (drums) and Mike Spence (guitar). ‘Mania’ is the third track to be taken from their current coruscating ‘Jekyll’ EP, and ticks all the requisite Jekyll boxes with its complex patterns and complicated melodic thrustings. In short, ‘Mania’ is a quite perfect name for 3 minutes and 51 seconds of powercrazed action. Blackpool rocks, indeed.
Check the mysterious 'Mania' video vibes here: A back story, of sorts: fierce panda saw Jekyll play not once but twice in Brighton at The Alternative Great Escape ‘18 and were so smitten by a complex sound likened to arena rock grown-ups running from Radiohead to Editors we did the deal there and then by the sea. Barely a fortnight later the scowling ‘Plan A’ was the first single to be released off from the summertime ‘Jekyll’ EP. It received admiring glances from Steve Lamacq on BBC 6music and earned Jekyll an interview on his Recommends show as well as loving local coverage from BBC Radio Lancashire. The ‘Jekyll’ EP also features last single ‘So Wrong’ as well as select previous DIY Jekyll releases including ‘Wounds’, which opened up various excellent doors including festival appearances at Sheffield's Tramlines, Liverpool's Threshold, South Yorkshire's Blackfest, Manchester's Sonder Fest, Lancaster Music Festival, The International Pop Overthrow Festival and Blackpool's Rebellion Punk Fest, as well as support slots with Vukovi, October Drift, Racing Glaciers, Demob Happy, The Membranes, Glass Caves and The Tapestry. The ‘Jekyll’ EP is also the first release as part of the Second Fierce Panda EP Club, wherein six new bands each release an EP over the course of the next year. This follows the fierce panda 2017 EP Club where the likes of Fightmilk, The Caress and August Child flaunted their wares, all with the sterling support of Arts Council England.
Come see Jekyll brood at this show here: “Operatic, anthemic rock…This is a band willing to uncover the darkness and show that we all have some unnerving qualities we hide.”- Louder Than War “This is a release that makes you feel like everything around you is ending, the apocalypse dawning and time slipping away. But you'll be okay with that, because you could do a lot worse than this being the last thing you hear.” - Vulture Hound on 'Wounds' |
