a slack-jawed fierce panda one sheet The Act: BRUNCH The Release: 'YOWIE' / 'SICK MASCHINE' The Formats: DIGITAL SINGLE & BEERMAT The Release Date: OCTOBER 23RD 2015 The Truth: London-based melody munchers BRUNCH are coming to join the seminal fierce panda one-off singles 'club' which has been running through 2015. 'Yowie' / 'Sick Maschine' is released on download and beermat on October 23rd, and to celebrate the release BRUNCH will be playing these shows here:
NOVEMBER 23rd
NOVEMBER 26th In the true fierce panda one-off singles club (on beermat) tradition this is a double aa-side in the proper sense of the phrase: 'Yowie' is the curt, cute a-side with bendy disposition which makes us think of a gently mental Pavement, while 'Sick Maschine' is five minutes and nine seconds of galloping, gallumphing neo-grunge grooviness with quiet bits, loud bits and really bloody much louder bits, a bit like The Cribs if they'd signed to Sub Pop, perhaps. Together these two tracks are slackererer than a stoned slacker being very slack indeed. But don't take our word for it, take the words of the band itself: "Brunch are a slug-rock band from London UK. Formed in 2014 they self-released their debut EP that summer and did a short tour of the USA. Following this three members returned to London but one did not. Another person joined in October and since then the band has been working very hard writing songs and playing shows. Some of the songs are poppy, some are weird. Some are both and some are quite heavy with shouting and that. They hope to continue to do this. They are currently working on an album which they hope will exist at some point." BRUNCH hereby become the tenth act to join the fierce panda one-off singles 'club' club after resounding efforts each month in 2015 from (deeeeeeeeeeep breath) fake laugh, doe, albert gold, kieran leonard, the lunchtime sardine club, ALMA, Masakichi, JaJa Ok and Etches. www.facebook.com/brunchmatters * the fierce panda singles ‘club’ club is supported by the munificence of the arts council * |
