a sun-splashed fierce panda one sheet
The Act: JAJA OK The Release: 'GIVE ME YOUR MONEY' / 'I DON'T WANT TO KNOW' The Formats: DOWNLOAD & BEER MAT The Release Date: AUGUST 21ST 2015 The Truth: Anglo-Swede wonkypop enthusiasts JAJA OK are joining the reborn fierce panda one-off singles 'club' with their debut release on August 21st which is available digitally and a panda-patented cardboard beer mat (which comes with a download code). This is a classic double aa-side single in the sense that 'Give Me Your Money' is a knockabout knuckledusting of jagged little thrills and grungy grooves, (keep an ear out for the line "they're coming to take my eyeballs away"), while 'I Don't Want To Know' represents the darker side of the lunacy, it being cosmic and winsome with a saddeningly sad trumpet. Or as a wise person once said, Simon Nillson, Petter Grevelius, Wiya Ngeh Hellborg, Sean Bean and Sven Bailey (for ‘tis they) are: "Creating a sound evoking the artfully considered slacker vibes of Pavement, the euphoric eclecticism and relentless adventure of Deerhoof and the visceral melody-soaked grunge of Nirvana, glued together with an electronic palate of sub-pulses, synths and saturated samples. JaJa OK create a truly distinct and joyous noise." Working closely with producer and champion Charlie Andrew (Alt-J, Marika Hackman, Sivu) on this single as well as follow-up release 'Finally' - due in the autumn - there's also a dizzyingly DIY ethic to JaJa OK, as you might expect from a band who are a pivotal part of a lovingly shambolic North-East London underground community, who put on their own power-crazed residency at Power Lunches in the spring and who have made their own spectacular video for 'Give Me Your Money' which sees the band infiltrate Parliament. JaJa OK hereby become the EIGHTH member of the rejuvenated fierce panda singles club 'club', an esteemed indie elite who have released beer mats on the panda in 2015. Fake Laugh, Doe, Albert Gold, Kieran Leonard & The Horses, ALMA, The Lunchtime Sardine Club and Masakichi are the other seven acts for whom the beer mat mattered.
