The Truth: ALBERT GOLD is a sweet, sweet soul man from Hackney, East Londonshire. ‘Feel Safe’ is a download-only single out on July 14th and is his first ever release. And yes, Albert Gold is his real name. An alumni of the British Academy Of New Music in downtown Stratford (alongside Ed Sheeran and Rita Ora) Albert has taken his sweet, sweet time before finally finding a musical style which is just the right temperature to go with his voice: soulful and smooth, with synths and loops and lovely sounds; kinda bloggy, but not bogged down by the whims of fashion; chilled, but not too cool for the school run.

This you can possibly tell from the ‘Feel Safe’ video at http://youtu.be/CRfHEPdZs24, which is so heroically enigmatic Albert doesn’t even appear in it. The video cost precisely £77 to make – slices of ginger cake included – and part of it was filmed on a springtime Saturday afternoon in a spare bedroom in Bedford. We think that says something.

Albert played his first shows earlier this year with the new line-up, backed by three musicians on keyboards, drummings and occasional guitar. They were suitably smooth and soulful, but with a nonchalant cutting edge which has seen Albert run the gamut of comparisons from Luther Vandross to James Blake. He’s a man for all sessions, too, lending his vocals to the‘Building On Sounds’ EP by fellow BANM graduate Strike – aka www.soundcloud.com/strikeofficial - and co-writing with Sacha ‘Wrecking Ball’ Skarbek. ‘Feel Safe’ hereby joins the ranks of Label Fandango’s‘13X13’ club, whereby they release 13 singles to celebrate 13 years of Club Fandango. The ‘13X13’ club follows on from the ‘12X12’ club, which saw the likes of Longfellow, Felt Tip, I Am In Love, Desperate Journalist, Feldspar and seven other newbie acts release 12 singles to celebrate 12 years of Club Fandango.
