** LONGFELLOW GET PHYSICAL FOR THE SPRING ** ** NEW SINGLE ‘KISS-HUG-MAKEUP’ IS MADE UP FOR MAY 19TH ** ** NEW KILLING MOON LIVE DATE SET FOR MARCH 27TH ** The Band: LONGFELLOW The Release: 'KISS-HUG-MAKEUP' The Format: DIGITAL SINGLE The Label: FIERCE PANDA The Release Date: MAY 19TH 2014 The Truth: It has been said before but we'll say it again right blinking here: if you like your music with an epic resonance and a sense of heroic melancholy then LONGFELLOW could well be Your New Favourite Band. Five heartbreakers-in-waiting they consist of Owen Lloyd (vocals), Tom Warhurst (drums), James Thomas (electric guitar), Isaac Shiman (bass) and Ali Hetherington (piano / synth). They lurk in South London and create a modestly authentic mixture of indie and pop, bolstered by fearless melodies, large choruses and emotional lyrical twists. In true casual LONGFELLOW style the quintet has announced a Killing Moon show at the Barfly on Thursday March 27th, onstage 8.00pm – full details below. They will also release a new single called 'Kiss-Hug-Makeup' on fierce panda on May 19th - yep, they're going right up against Coldplay. Following the impressive airplay success of their previous 'Siamese Lover' single, which was first played by 6 Music a clear two and-a-half months before release, 'Kiss-Hug-Makeup' got its UK radio premiere on the eve of SXSW - a mere 10 weeks up front. And that super squeezy radio edit can be heard here: https://soundcloud.com/longfellowmusic/kiss-hug-makeup-radio/s-Ev5sy It makes sense, too: since valiantly supporting Keane at their special anniversary show in Tunbridge Wells Forum last Halloween LONGFELLOW have barely been off the radio. Steve Lamacq started the ball rolling with 'Siamese Lover', since then it has been played across the circuit board from Amazing to Xfm and from Jo Whiley on Radio 2 through to BBC Introducing's Unsigned Band Of The Week on Huw Stephens in the first week of 2014. This radio love culminated in the spring with a cherished slot on BBC Introducing's reactivated SXSW showcase on March 13th at Austin's Latitude 30 alongside the carefully-chosen likes of Royal Blood, Thumpers and Public Service Broadcasting. This in turn followed a hectic few months of fluttering industry interest, recording sessions with esteemed producer Ken Nelson and choice gigs which included a New Year appearance at a packed Pandamonium show followed by a January slot at Breakout at the Lexington and a March Music Week gig at Camden Black Heart. LONGFELLOW play their next choice shows here and here and indeed there:
