THE HOSTS (onstage 10.00pm) are five men from Sheffield who recently played one of the farewell shows at the Bull & Gate. Their mood fitted perfectly, too: think soberly-dressed chaps in waistcoats mixing the dark flashes of Roy Orbison and Jonathan Fire*Eater with the modern love of Richard Hawley, producer of their spectacular current single 'September Song'.

TEDZED (onstage 9.15pm) comes from the deepest ruralities of Somerset armed with all manner of Kaoss pads, laptops and a Flying V. Recent debut single I Dont Mind displays an unnerving level of cleverness and coolness, being melodic and psychedelic and synthy, perhaps a bit like Klaxons without the nu rave distractions.
