** ULTRASOUND ANNOUNCE NEW LONDON SHOW FOR JUNE 1ST 2013 **
** BETWEEN TWO RIVERS RELEASED AS A SINGLE ON MAY 27TH ** The Band: ULTRASOUND The Release: BETWEEN TWO RIVERS (RADIO EDIT VERSION) / DEUS EX NATURA / BETWEEN TWO RIVERS (NON-RADIO EPIC VERSION) The Format: DIGITAL EP SINGLE The Label: fierce panda The Release Date: MAY 27TH 2013 Cosmic rock/pop explorers ULTRASOUND take another couple of seismic steps on the comeback trail with the announcement of a headline show at London Islington Assembly Hall on June 1st and the release of Between Two Rivers as a single to coincide on May 27th. Tickets for the Islington gig are available for a thoroughly reasonable Ł9.50 from HERE right now. Between Two Rivers meanwhile is taken from their current sophomore album Play For Today and is Ultrasound in excelsis, ie dramatically rugged and sonically beautiful, featuring a homegrown choir and The City Of Bradford Brass Band and lacking in neither volume or length. This EP therefore features both the original epic album version and the craftily economical radio edit. The EP also features the album track Deus Ex Natura, which is also Ultrasound in excelsis, ie beautiful and terrifically melodic and both loud and long, but proved to be so ferociously uneditable for radio purposes the version on here is as fulsome as fulsome can be. All pretty darned impressive when one considers that they said it would never happen. And by they we mean the band, their friends and anyone in the music industry who had ever worked with them. Yet on October 4th 2012 Ultrasound found themselves headlining the Scala in London Town for the launch of Play For Today, fizzing with energy, passion, panache and the occasional Very Long Song just like they had been before, if not better. Because they were back with a fresh attitude, ten new songs of unrelenting epicness and an almost unexpected degree of excellence. Back, in fact, where they had always belonged. We were pretty impressed, and we werent the only ones. A certain Mr Justin Hawkins was so smitten by Ultrasounds mighty sound he recently invited them on the road with The Darkness, a tour which took the band across Scandinavia and Northern Europe in the freaky midwinter. Next up are these dates right here: April 12th LEEDS 360 Club April 13th HULL Adelphi May 18th HEBDEN BRIDGE The Trades June 1st LONDON ISLINGTON Assembly Hall June 14th GLASGOW King Tuts June 15th NEWCASTLE The Cluny Happily for us and indeed the good burghers of Northern Europe Ultrasounds 2011 comeback single Welfare State / Sovereign gave them a taste for the creative juices hey had never lost, just gently misplaced for a decade. Having rediscovered their thirst for gargantuan pop hooks, outlandishly cosmic rock freak outs and biting political commentary the resulting Play For Today opus condensed 13 years of frustration into 53 minutes worth of wondrous widescreen inspiration. Even better still, the quintets appetite for construction shows no signs of abating. Ultrasound are Tiny Woods (vocals / guitar), Richard James Green (guitars / vocals), Vanessa Best (bass / vocals), Bob Birch (keyboards) and Andy Peace (drums). Here they are. Again.
