FOE (onstage 10.15pm) is launching us into the uncertainties of 2012 with a suitably haphazard take on pop reality. Abandoning the traditions of singer-in-a-band-dom at home down in Fleet FOE is now a hectic, gothic, supercool tribute to letting your bewigged hair down and getting your creative juices to run riot. Her debut album is called 'Bad Dream Hotline' (Vertigo) and is heading towards on January 16th, ie very soon indeed. http://foe-mania.com
WHALES IN CUBICLES (onstage 9.30pm) are a ragged bunch of leftfield loungers who are preparing for the release of their excellently bruised and scruffy 'We Never Win' single (Young & Lost) on January 23rd.
WILDSWIM (onstage 8.45pm) are cruising in from Oxford to play their first ever London show. Good news for soft focus music lovers everywhere as these baritone-inflected alt.popsters make busy with the synths to create lush panoramic soundscapes which make old romantics dream of the likes of The Blue Nile. |
