PANDAMONIUM!!!!
THE HOSTS: fierce panda & Club Fandango (and friends)
THE DATES: January 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th 2011
THE VENUE: The Bull & Gate, Kentish Town, Londonshire
389 Kentish Town Road, NW5 2TJ (0207485 5358)
THE VIBE: seventeen alternative combos, both old and new, play a pawful of intimate shows smack bang at the start of 2011 to nurse Londons concert goers through the traumas of the empty New Year gig calendar and help launch fierce pandas 17th birthday celebrations. As formulas go this one is simple but splendidly effective.
TUESDAY JANUARY 4TH: mybandsbetterthanyourband presents
TRIBES + GIANT STEPS + VARIOUS CRUELTIES + ORLANDO & THE WOLVES
A new night comes to London Town as www.mybandsbetterthanyourband.wordpress.com - aka Record Of The Days Blog Of 2010 - launches at the Bull & Gate on the first Tuesday of each month. This action packed debut sees fertile industry buzziness abound with the ragged pixilated rock shapes of Tribes topping a bill of unsigned newness.

HOODLUMS + BEAR DRIVER + OUT LIKE A LION + THEE INTOLERABLE KIDD
The regular monthly hoedown with our friends at Best of Myspace moves to the first Wednesday of the month with a pawful of suitably animal-themed combos for this Pandamonium special. Top of the tree they have perched Hoodlums, who are bringing their stonking soulpop grooves to town fresh from selling out the Lexington.

FRIDAY JANUARY 7TH Stuntfox presents
BAND OF HOLY JOY + BITTERSPRINGS + ANDREW CLARKE
A night for the long overcoat brigade, in an innocent indie manner. Band of Holy Joy were kicking up a rowdy, wordy pop storm on Rough Trade when Arcade Fire were still in diapers and age has not withered them. Nor has it hampered Bitter Springs, who were earning Singles Of The Week in NME in 1995 for their ragged, rugged indie shenanigans.

POCKET SATELLITE + SUMUDU + FELDSPAR + DANNI NICHOLLS
And at the end of such a manic week what better than a night of relaxing pop loveliness in the company of Sheffield folk shmoozers Pocket Satellite, in town for an EP launch? Throw in some skilfully hand-picked acoustic supports and dig out the bean bags¦

THE BACKSTORY: In January 1999 fierce panda records hosted the inaugural Pandamonium event at The Bull & Gate. Driven half-crazy by the traditional post-Christmas lull when the Black Magic box has been magically emptied the panda troops took it upon themselves to save the indie nation by putting on five nights' worth of alternative action at the Bull & Gate in the very first full week of the very new year. Eager North Londoners flocked from yards around, making all five shows a complete sellout, and if memory serves us correctly some young bucks called Coldplay opened up on one of the gigs.
Now, several panda moan-ups later, for the first time in twelve years Pandamonium is picking up its boots, heading back to its roots and finally returning to the warm bosom of the refurbished Bull & Gate for this annual five night stand. Not only that, but they have invited along a selection of their finest co-promoting friends to help choose the bands, and the likes of Best of Myspace, Stuntfox and brrrand new arrivals mybandsbetterthanyourband have sprinkled their gig magic dust over proceedings. So while the nation muddles through its Christmas cuddles it can rest (un)easy in the knowledge we are working on kicking all those facile New Years resolutions straight into touch. Retox, not detox, is the Pandamonium mantra. Lets go to quirk¦
