** SWEDISH TWIN SISTERS TAXI TAXI! HEAD BACK OUT ON THE ROAD!** ** WITH A NEW FIERCE PANDA SINGLE IN TOW!! ** ** FURTHER DETAILS AND FULL EXOTIC DATES BELOW!!! ** Bittersweet Swedish duo TAXI TAXI! are set to release a new single on fierce panda to tie in with a lengthy springtime trek around Europe. More Childish Than In A Long Time will be available as a download on March 22nd, the day before Johanna and Miriam Eriksson Berhan pop over to play a special one-off show at Highbury Garage (Upstairs) on March 23rd. This will be the Taxi Taxi! twins first trip to these shores since late 2009 when, to coincide with the release of their hauntingly vulnerable Still Standing At Your Back Door album, they made implausibly shy and hugely endearing appearances at SWN in Cardiff, at In The City in Manchester and at the Barbican in the company of Kings Of Convenience. Still Standing At Your Back Door was Taxi Taxi!s debut album. It consists of ten tracks of heartbreaking simplicity and searing melodic honesty. More Childish Than In A Long Time is one of those songs and is lovely and fragile and, frankly, wobbly. Taxi Taxi! have already been described as ?ìmesmeric¬ù and ?ìghostly¬ù and for sure here are people lurking at the dark folk end of the street, gentle of guitar, morose of mood and minimalist in structure. The music may be sombre but skulking in the shadows is not for Taxi Taxi! At the age of 9 Johanna and Miriam began to play music together for the fun of it. By the time they were fifteen they had two songs up on myspace and national airplay in Sweden. Aged 17 they released the six-track Taxi Taxi! EP, produced by Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn and John, and in 2009 Taxi Taxi!s Step Out Into The Light EP saw the download light of day.
Throw in breathlessly received festival appearances at Roskilde and Hultsfred and it is apparent that Johanna and Miriam have squeezed an alarming amount into their nascent career. Twenty-odd dates across the Continent holds no fear ‚ the sisters have already warmed up for this tour by supporting Mew on a pawful of Scandinavian gigs. So put your hearts on your sleeves and expect a hushed kind of magic when Taxi Taxi! drive out to play these shows here¬¶ |
