The General Gist Of It All:
** The opening night of Sidewalk took place at the Scala on Saturday April 4th. Jeremy Warmsley, Hot Club de Paris, Hatcham Social and Lets Wrestle played live and The Maccabees and many others played records. It was a blast. And so, we trust, will be this second night which once again brings together a slew of fine entertainers onstage and on the decks. And here comes the science bit¦
** SIDEWALK very much happens on the first Saturday of each and every month. SIDEWALK is so swooningly cool it is named after a Hatcham Social single that hasnt even been released yet. The SIDEWALK plot will be exceedingly simple: there will be live bands and real life disc jockeys and really quite fine dancing.
** The musical menu will crank and creep through the musical gears. Think new wave, old wave, new rave, new grave and just generally riding the indiepop gravy train whilst indulging in a smorgasbord of sonic delights, a feast of leftfield pop meringues, a buffet of berserk indie anthems. Someone might play The Beat Happening at some point as well. With any luck, on this second night it will be The Beat Happening DJ crew. See you down the middle!
