Our very own night on the indie tiles Club Panda continues on the comeback trail with a fourth instalment on November 4th at its new home of the Dublin Castle. Here's a press release we wrote for it earlier... Club Panda @ Club Fandango presents... The Gig: THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT + THE RACE + THE BOAT PEOPLE + BEAR HANDS The Date: TUESDAY NOVEMBER 4TH 2008 The Place: LONDON CAMDEN DUBLIN CASTLE The Doors: 7.45pm The Damage: £6.00 / £5.00 with flyer The Story: Rising like a befuddled phoenix out of the dusty ashes of oblivion Club Panda is back among us again. Many moons ago it shone a beacon of hope on the dark streets of Kentish Town. Then during the summer of 2008 a reborn Club Panda sheds its light of love over the 229 venue, recent home of Fistful Of Fandango's five night stand. Now it has finally decided to radiate its panda-esque luminosity over its spiritual home, the Dublin Castle in Camden Town, and will be radiating that luminosity in that very establishment on the first Tuesday of each and every month for the foreseeable future. People with little else to do may care to remember that since its rebirth Club Panda has already played host to the likes of Narration, Cheeky Cheeky & The Nosebleeds, New Adventures, The Ruling Class, Silhouette, The Kabeedies, Arthur, I LIKE TRAINS and Televised Crimewave. And we've only done three bloody shows! Wowsa! People with diaries to fill may care to note that the Chrimbo-tastic Club Panda bill for Tuesday December 2nd has already been confirmed and will feature States Of Emotion + Hold Fire + The Cordelier Club + capital in varying degrees of pre-Yuletide loveliness. People with nice big atlases, meanwhile, might care to be dazzled by the ocean-leaping range of international talent on display in November, which looks something like this... THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT are from California, USA, and make a vibrant moderne classique sound which sees muchos stomping, wailing and gnashing of pop chords and enormous dark anthems bubbling away in their alt.rock gumbo. Tonight will be the first of four Club Fandango shows for TATE in the next month as part of a 30-dates-in-30-days UK tour. Good luck, mes amis! Onstage 10.15pm www.myspace.com/theairbornetoxicevent THE RACE are a Reading, Englandshire quintet who've emerged from the Shifty Disco dancefloor sounding slightly dishevilled of guitar and moderately distraught of vocal. Intelligent, articulate leftfield indierock is their forte, 'In My Head It Works' is their pithily-titled new album, and intense pop hooks are their secret weapon. Onstage 9.30pm www.myspace.com/raceuk THE BOAT PEOPLE are from Australialand and their dainty dual-vocal attack has drawn a frankly alarming spread of comparisons stretching from Gomez to Lennon via Coldplay, Crowded House and Wilco. Little wonder they have already been described as 'masters of perfectly unconventional pop'... Onstage 8.45pm www.myspace.com/theboatpeople BEAR HANDS are from Brooklyn, NYC, USA. Typical of the rest of the bill they delight in pop with a twist, in music with a touch of imagination and genuine heart. Ferociously inventive and furrily off-kilter their 'Golden' EP has been soothing many souls whilst Bear Hands have been touring with The Holloways. May it soothe many more tonight...
