SKINT & DEMORALISED

The Turns:
VC PINES (onstage 2.15pm) is Jack Mercer, former frontman in the Carnabys and newly reinvented purveyor of Northern Line Soul, as evinced by the current colour-splashed ‘Indigo’ EP. His is a live world of lyrical self-doubt and unselfish brass sections where a plaintive Pixies cover lounges next to lunging alt.pop beauties.
CHINA BEARS (onstage 1.15pm) are four critters cruising for an indie emo bruising with a blend of intense lyrical drama and stadium-sized outbursts of guitar. Their thoroughly ebullient ‘Stay For Good’ single came out on March 22nd with an EP appearing later in 2019.
PEEPING DREXELS (onstage 12.15pm) are five frazzled sorts from South London who revel in a ragbag of sonic truths: their current precisely-titled ‘PEEPING DREXELS.’ EP mixes snotty post-punk perambulations with flashes of creepy creeping beauty. |
