** 485C TURN THE TOWN RED! ** ** DEBUT SINGLE RELEASED ON AUGUST 19TH! ** A brutishly arty fierce panda one sheet The Band: 485C The Tunes: ‘SHE’LL LIE’ / ‘IN MY CELL’ The Format: DOWNLOAD SINGLE The Label: fierce panda The Release Date: AUGUST 19TH 2016 The Truth: 485C are five roustabouts emanating from the far, far end of the Central Line. They consist of Adam (vocals), Dom (guitar / vocals), Rory (guitar / occasional vocals), Sam (bass / occasional vocals) and Lucas (drums). ‘She’ll Lie’ is their first ever release which comes after months of shadowy plotting on the underground. In spite of the band being barely a handful of gigs old – they only played their first pukka show at London’s ArtBeatFest in April – ‘She’ll Lie’ is a jagged, swaggering, guitar-flinging delight with a giant chorus and the good decency to get all its work done in two and half minutes. For a further glimpse into the real heart and soul of the band turn your ears towards the AA-side ‘In My Cell’ which is a raggedly howling outburst of rock’n’roll dementia. Happily, 485C talk it like they walk it as well: “There should be more people doing art and creating,” they froth. “It’s incredible how there hasn’t been riots on the streets, but this is where art comes from. When you feel like “why is this happening?” just write a song, paint some art…just as long as you’re ventilating that passion.” Even the band name is designed to raise eyebrows: “We wanted a conceptual idea, something people have to think about. If people asked about 485C we would just draw a huge question mark.” Pantone fans will of course instantly recognise 485C as shorthand for pillar box red, ie the colour of the Soviet flag and indeed the tube line which takes them out to faraway Essex. 485C just hope that soon that colour code becomes synonymous with their own hectic creative endeavours. “We just want to prove that people like us are still there,” they scowl. “Everyone should create art, because fuck knows we need it right now.” 485C hereby join the thoroughly artistic parade of talent (see Alphaduka, Cavalry, Coquin Migale, HUSH!, Chalk) which has marched past as part of fierce panda’s 2016 singles club whereby the label releases 12 ace new releases by 12 ace new bands throughout the year with the gently generous support of the Arts Council.
