** SOLDIER ON! LIVERPOOL’S CAVALRY JOIN THE PANDA CLUB! **
** ‘EVERYTHING’ / ‘LUCERNE’ SINGLE IS RUSH-RELEASED ON APRIL 1ST!**

A wide-eyed widescreen fierce panda one sheet

The Act: CAVALRY

The Tunes: ‘EVERYTHING’ / ‘LUCERNE’

The Format: DIGITAL SINGLE

The Release Date: APRIL 1ST 2016

The Label: fierce panda records

The Truth: CAVALRY are from Liverpool in the North Of Englandshire. They consist of Alan, Gareth, Steve, Paul and Austin. ‘Everything’ / ‘Lucerne’ is their new digital single, and a classic double aa-side release it is, too: ‘Lucerne’ is the relatively upbeat side, a sumptuous roll of melodies and multi-layered atmospherics blended with breathy vocals and subtle power chords; ‘Everything’ is more restrained, but no less eloquent and epic, with one of the loveliest guitar flourishes of all time appearing around 2 minutes and 40 seconds.

Little wonder that supercool cinematic music lover Chloe Grace Moretz should enthuse about the song with Huw Stephens on Radio One recently, alongside half the enraptured blogosphere which propelled 'Everything' to the top echelons of the Hype Machine. Beach lovers might care to know that the exemplary video for ‘Everything’ was shot by the Southport dunes and features an emotional couple fighting to salvage or perhaps savage their relationship. ‘Corrie’ lovers meanwhile may care to play sport-the-soap-star with the male protagonist over at https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=a0STKn3uP6Y

Regrets? Cavalry have had a few. Enough in fact for them to be able to create their own epic world from the ashes of loves lost and abandoned. ‘Everything’ and ‘Lucerne’ share that essence rare, which is the sound of a band making music at their own spectacularly slow motion speed. Or in the band’s own words: “Their dramatic brand of alt-folk harnesses shades between The National and The Maccabees, as waves of raw indie crash into soaring vocals and harmonies, amidst glistening guitars and electronics.”

Nor is this release a freak of musical nature: in 2015 Cavalry fired two terrific opening salvoes in the self-released form of ‘An Understanding’ and ‘Soak’, both of which made their way into the consciousness of the BBC Introducing world and gleaned airplay from Dave Monks (BBC Radio Merseyside) as well as Huw Stephens (Radio One), Janice Long (Radio 2) and Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music). Along the way they piqued the interest of The Guardian and Music Week, played a sensational slot at the inaugural BBC Music Day and supported British Sea Power and Steve Malkmus & The Jicks with a set of slowly unfurling slow-burning grandeur. Not for nothing did the Bitter Sweet Symphonies blog say “Cavalry are a band that always stun with their beautifully powerful alt.folk.”

Cavalry hereby become the second band to join the fierce panda: singles 16 project which sees the vaguely esteemed label release 12 new singles by new acts through 2016 backed by the gentle generosity of Arts Council England. Alphaduka kicked proceedings off in March and Coquin Migale are muscling in on May.

In the meantime Cavalry will be marching onwards with these live shows here:
May 17th London Archway Namucca
May 28th Liverpool Sound City Cavern Stage (onstage 17.15)
June 3rd Liverpool BBC Music Day (onstage 18.20)
