BROKEN RECORDS (onstage 9.45pm) formed in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2007 built on the two solid foundations of bearded wonderment and a wonderfully dramatic sub-orchestral sound. One of their early independent releases was the 'Slow Parade' 7" on Label Fandango in 2008, after which they hooked up with 4AD for a two album stint. Spring 2014 saw the appearance of their third album, 'Weights And Pulleys' on J Sharp records, and a new single 'So Long, So Late' is due on September 15th.
LONGFELLOW (onstage 8.45pm) were graduates of the Label Fandango school of singles in February this year with the Lamacq-endorsed heroics of 'Siamese Lover'. Fresh from a sell-out tour with Hall & Oates, and even fresher from their own sold out summertime show at the Sebright Arms, Crystal Palace's finest exponents of glittering alt.pop.rock continue down the promotional trail for their cheerily lachrymose 'Prelude' mini-album, out now on fierce panda.
THE TRAPS (onstage 8.00pm) sailed with the Label Fandango crew in the spring of 2014 with the towering double aa-side antics of 'My Grip' / 'Imposter'. The Birmingham quartet had form, too - last year's 'Calypso' album (Speech Fewapy Records) saw a band perversely happy to skulk around the dark end of the street with glowering vocals and chilling guitars. |
