The Story So Far: Hey Sholay remain a five-piece group of musicians, filmmakers and artists from Sheffield and Leeds, who still play a breed of psychedelic independent pop with a hint of the Northern Lights captured in a jam jar. In September they released their cosmically titled debut album, '((O))' and on December 3rd they will be taking the ‘Wishbone’ track from those comfortably cosmic confines and releasing it as a pop single. Throughout November they will be on tour with Yorkshire neighbours and fierce panda label mates The Crookes – full schedule down below.

“Out there, somewhere, there’s a parallel universe where Hey Sholay are selling out arenas, breaking America and dating women twice their age…’((O))’ plays like a Greatest Hits. They muster more sing-along choruses than Harry Styles attracts teenage fangirls, without any of their hooks sounding like hits we’re bored of hearing...Even after only a couple of listens, these songs burn brightly in your brain cells like the best of memories, moments to be cherished as much as forming a new friendship or driving home from work early on a sunny summer afternoon.” 8/10 Robert Cooke, drownedinsound

It’s been said before, and we’ll say it again here: Hey Sholay are progressive, but not oppressively so; populist, but not obsessively so. In fact, we can’t quite get our heads around what makes them tick and what encourages them to tock, and we’ve been listening to their tumultuously-played tunes for well over a year now. But what we do know is that they fizz in the most unexpected places, and some expected places as well, like these…
