a little bit of a psychotic fierce panda one sheet The Act: SASHA ASSAD The Release: 'STILL' The Format: DIGISINGLE The Release Date: TUESDAY OCTOBER 10TH 2023 The Digital Link: orcd.co/sashaassad_still The Truth: Sasha Assad is a half-Egyptian, half Nottingham artist blending her indie-rock influences with emotive lyrics and ear-worm hooks. 'Still' is her splendidly regal debut release on fierce panda and precedes an EP - called 'Tearstick' - in early 2024. Sasha plays Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes on the day of release, October 10th - more details below. The panda crew encountered Sasha and her band supporting The Manatees at the Sebright Arms in the spring and were smitten like lovelorn mittens by a sound which brilliantly mixed modern multi-cultural indiepop norms with old school collegiate rock va va voomings. It's not every evening we get to compare any new act with Blake Babies, but it's not every gig where you get to see something as enthralling and enervating as Sasha Assad. "'Still' is just another song about heartbreak that the word absolutely did not need but here we are!" shrugs the singer. "The song talks about not wanting to move forward out of fear that if I do I might just bump into the girl that made me write the song in the first place. As she has definitely moved forward. "'Still' voices your stereotypical ideas of what heartbreak looks like - incredible heights sadness, wanting someone so much that you would settle for an exact replica of them, a little bit psychotic to be completely honest..." The Sasha Assad journey thus far has been suitably stealthy: some hometown blossomings, tying Notts in knots; BBC Introducing live love, Radio X support, a Truck Festival ruck this summer, consistently funtimes at The Dublin Castle and The Lexington and gentle frenzy at The Hawley Arms. Next up, the 'Still' single is launched very much like this:
TUESDAY OCTOBER 10TH 2023 "Love this! Love this! Love this! Sasha Atlanta Assad's music is a beautiful dreamy voice perfectly surfing on top of a rough-edged aggressive structure of instrumentals! Simplicity balancing on top of monstrous complexity..." - Inpop |
