Bears Blood they consider to be their heaviest song thus far. This is perhaps unsurprising when one considers that it was written about a potent drink they discovered on tour in Slovenia which, legend has it, is made by a man who lives in the woods who is the only person who knows the ingredients. Rather excellently, The Crookes are currently working with Sheffield-based micro brewery The Brew Company to create their own Bears Blood beer, which one suspects will be slightly less mysterious and lethal than its Slovenian counterpart.
The slightly more languid Dance In Colour meanwhile was the first song written since the release of last years sophomore album Hold Fast. It features guitarist Tom playing piano and if that wasnt classy enough the video stars Ferdinand Kingsley (son of Sir Ben), who they met when they played The Troxy in February. Better still you can see the videos for both tracks right now at Such is life on with the workaholic THE CROOKES, a band never knowingly undercooked when it comes to recording or touring. Already in 2013 they have been around the UK twice with Richard Hawley and Little Comets, popped across to Austin for SXSW and recorded the new single in a spare weekend off. Next up come a pawful of festival hoedowns, which look something like this:
