** THE CROOKES HEADLINE THE SCALA ON MAY 21ST **
** AND TOUR THE UK WITH LITTLE COMETS IN APRIL ** Erudite NewPop dreamers THE CROOKES are poised to play the Kings Cross Scala in London on May 21st 2013. Before then they embark upon their second tour of the year so far in the company of Little Comets in April. The Sheffield quartet, who have already spent a fair old chunk of February touring the country with Richard Hawley, play their biggest headline show thus far in the capital as part of the fierce panda label's 19th birthday celebrations. As befits the true Crookesaholic working spirit, both tunes will be brand new and indeed never-released-anywhere-else-before. Ever. Rest assured that by the time these dates takes place the boys will have made a return trip to SXSW in Austin in March, and quite probably written and recorded the bulk of their third album on any spare afternoons off. Such is like with the fast-living, fringe-loving foursome who have made a virtue of a work ethic which would cause palpitations along half of Easy Street, Dalstonland. Over the past four years The Crookes have lived the sprightly, slightly poetic leftfield DIY dream by releasing one mini-album, two full albums and a slew of jaggedly romantic indiepop singles, as well as tour their tyres off in hot pursuit of international glory. In the autumn of 2012 alone they hit ten different countries in 21 dates across Europe in support of their current 'Hold Fast' longplayer and went straight into another string of UK dates which featured a sold old Lexington gig and culminated in a headline show at Sheffield Leadmill, their biggest hometown appearance so far. There's some kind of theme occurring here. The Crookes are still George (bass / vocals), Daniel (guitar), Tom (guitar) and Russ (drums). Long may they reign with a love of The Supremes. www.facebook.com/thecrookes.music www.clubfandango.co.uk |
