** Super cool jingle-jangular indie popsters HATCHAM SOCIAL are poised to release an expanded download version of their Sidewalk EP to tie in with their first UK dates of 2010. The main track, Sidewalk itself, is the prowling, bass-driven highlight of their frankly terrific You Dig The Tunnel, Ill Hide The Soil album, and was released as a fearsomely limited edition 10¬ù physical single at the start of November.

** This expanded download version now features previous 7¬ù release Crocodile, which was voted as Best Single Of 2009 by Artrocker magazine. As well as a slithery electro Breton Labs remix of Sidewalk to fit alongside the heroically mindbending mix of the same song by Tom Furse-from-the-Horrors. As you may or may not expect from a band who have revelled in the indie-tastic world of limited seven-inch singles and cassette releases over the past few hectic years this EP also features two previously unreleased tracks, one of which is a Beach Boys cover version.

** Also, as you may or may not expect from a band whove made a virtue of creating high art on a lo-fi budget, the promotional video for Sidewalk was filmed in the headquarters of fierce panda records one quiet autumnal Sunday for a wallet-busting £140.

** If nothing else the deliberations over the tracklisting of this EP have filled a wee bit of the cavernous hole left by the cancellation of the Echo & The Bunnyman North America tour, on which Hatcham Social were due to be main support this month. Consider that this is the second Hatcham US support jaunt to be postponed this year after The Charlatans scrapped their tour dates in the autumn and one could start to feel for the chaps. Happily the USA ‚ where Hatcham Social are labelmates with Radiohead by dint of a deal with TBD Records ‚ is beckoning again next spring when the Bunnymen tour will be rescheduled. In the meantime, there are these dates to be taken care of¬¶
