** THERE'S 'NO CHANGE TONIGHT' AS CHINA BEARS HIT THE ROAD! ** Much-admired West Country emo-esque racketeers China Bears are buffing the hubcaps of the bearmobile for another pawful of dates in early 2023 in support of current indie anthem 'No Change Tonight'. The track is from the 'All That Distance' EP, which sounds very much like this: orcd.co/all_that_distance_ep And the dates look very much like this:
Thurs 9th Feb - 60 Million Postcards - Bournemouth China Bears consist of twin brothers Ivan (guitar / vox) and Frazer (guitar) alongside bassist James and drummer Dean. 'All That Distance' is their third EP on fierce panda. The band toured the release throughout October with 15 dates around the UK, which included a show at London's 320 capacity Moth Club. Lead singer Ivan gives us some insight into the track, which has been getting beefy support from John Kennedy and Steve Lamacq: "'No Change Tonight' is a song that depicts the feeling of just feeling completely lost without the presence of someone you need in your life. Loss and grief is an ongoing process and 'No Change Tonight' is written about when it just takes it all out of you." Like much of China Bears' best work, 'No Change Tonight' builds splendidly from the ground up, a passionate slew of melody swelling like primetime Death Cab or Snow Patrol. The video was filmed at the dark end of the street and features dancer Alice Faye Hamer, who "Represents that person that is always on your mind, tangled in your daily thoughts," guitarist Frazer explains. See the video here:www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9ocFx54irE After self-releasing 3 singles the alt-indie five-piece teamed up with Fierce Panda Records for the release of the EPs 'I’ve Never Met Anyone Like You' and 'Statue Still', picking up attention from the likes of BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing, Gigwise, NPR & Radio X. Along the way China Bears have played extensively around the UK, with notable support slots for bands such as: Genghar, The Districts, To Kill A King, Geneva, Neon Waltz and The Howl & The Hum. 'Their sound unfurls as a package of unfaltering songwriting with whispers of The National and Dry The River....Brimming with astute and sophisticated songwriting and enhanced by racing riffs and compelling percussion, it toes the line between thought-provoking and euphoric.' - Gigwise 'The group sounds fully in command of a big, vibrant sound that calls on its influences — just about any anthemic indie-rock band of this century — while still sounding distinct' - NPR 'Tapping into those bright vocals, relatable lyrics and some delicious guitars, they're ready to fill big venues...Remember what made you love Snow Patrol so much? China Bears have that je ne sais quoi in spades - updated for 2020' - Gigwise |
